Instagram, which is a popular social media platform, has recently announced many big changes. These include increasing the time limit of Reels, a new design of the profile grid, and a new video editing app ‘Edits’. These updates have been added to give a better experience to the users. So let’s know about them in detail.

Time limit

Instagram has increased the maximum time limit of its Reels to 3 minutes. Platform head Adam Mosseri said in a post that this change has been made based on the feedback of the users. Earlier, the time of 90 seconds seemed too less for some users, especially for those who wanted to create long content. That is why all these changes have been made.

Profile Grid

Instagram has also changed the profile grid. Now this grid will be rectangular instead of square. Adam Mosseri said that most users upload vertically oriented content, and the old grid used to crop them too much. He further said that with this change, users will be able to see their photos and videos in a better way and in full frame.

New section

A new section has been added to the Reels tab. Now users will be able to see the videos that their friends liked or on which they have added notes. This feature will first be rolled out in select countries and then later will be made available in other places.

Video editing app

Instagram has also launched a new video editing app called ‘Edits’. Through this app, users will get advanced creative tools.

What is special

  • A special tab to track inspiration and ideas.
  • Support for better video quality.
  • Facility to share drafts with others.
  • Video performance analysis.

At present, this app is not available on Google Play Store, but it can be pre-registered on Apple App Store. It is expected to be launched on March 13.
