In today’s time, earbuds are considered to be one of the most popular wearable audio devices. Now it is not going to be limited to just listening to audio, but their technology is being further advanced. Companies like Apple, Meta and Samsung are constantly working on such earbuds, in which you will now see cameras.

Apple has made a lot of progress in camera earbuds in the last few years. According to a Bloomberg report, along with Apple, Meta and Samsung are also continuously working on this new technology.

Apple’s innovations

Expert Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple is planning to add a camera module to its new AirPods, which are expected to begin production by 2026. These new AirPods are going to work with Vision Pro and future Apple headsets. This amazing feature will make the spatial audio experience even better.

These AirPods will have an infrared camera, which will be able to recognize changes in the surrounding environment. The components of this camera will be manufactured by Foxconn.

Meta’s innovation & challenges

Meta is working on a technology that will allow the user to look at an object and request the earbuds to analyze it. However, Meta is currently facing several design problems, such as setting the correct angle of the lens and improving the visibility of the camera for users with long hair.

Meta is working with Luxottica Group to solve these design problems. In addition, Meta plans to place the camera in the middle of the Oakley Sphaera style frame. Their first model, the SuperNova 2, may be launched in 2025 for athletes and cyclists.
