Instagram is constantly working on new features to improve its platform. This time Instagram is testing a new “Dislike” button, which you can use on comments. Information about this feature has been given by Instagram head Adam Mosseri himself. However, right now it is only in the testing phase, that is, this button will not be visible to everyone.

Where will the new dislike button appear

In this new feature, the dislike button will be given next to the comment. However, there will be no public dislike count, meaning no one will know that you have disliked the comment.

This feature of Instagram can be similar to Reddit’s upvote/downvote button, in which the option is given to push down the ranking of the comment.

How it will work

This new dislike button will appear near any comment.

  • When a user dislikes a comment, that comment will slowly move down.
  • The owner of the post will also not be able to see how many dislikes his comment has received.
  • This feature can help users remove negative comments.

Comment moderation features

Instagram already offers users several comment control features, including:

  • Who can comment: You can decide who can comment on your posts.
  • Limit comments: You can choose to only allow certain people to comment on your posts.
  • Block comments from specific users: If someone repeatedly leaves negative comments, you can block them.

Will all users get this feature

It is not clear yet whether Instagram will release the dislike button for all users or not. It is currently in the testing phase and if it is successful, all users may get it soon.

Instagram launches many features globally only after testing them, so it will be interesting to see whether this feature gets a positive response or not.
