WhatsApp has returned with a festive upgrade, just in time for Christmas and New Year! The messaging giant has added a new emoji to its default reaction list, and the small adjustment is already generating discussion among users.
Default Reaction List
WhatsApp’s default reactions are 👍, ❤️, 😂, 😮, 😢, and 🙏. The Party Popper (🎉) emoji now ranks eighth on the list. What’s even cooler? It has a delightful animation to make your conversations more dynamic and festive.
This change is especially noteworthy because WhatsApp has been exploring personalized reply lists for quite some time. However, given that feature is still in beta, this temporary addition seems like the ideal way to spread holiday cheer.
Update being Release
According to WABetaInfo, the Party Popper emoji is now available on both Android and iOS. It’s available in WhatsApp versions 2.24.25.77 for Android and 24.25.89 for iOS. So, if you haven’t already updated your app, now is the time!

This is not the only change WhatsApp is making. The gallery attachment screen has also been redesigned. The original full-screen layout has been replaced with a practical half-screen bottom sheet.
